SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY It is the Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County’s (WIB-KC) policy that all applicants/enrollees and employees have a right to work in an environment free of discrimination, which encompasses freedom from sexual harassment. The WIB-KC prohibits sexual harassment in any form. Such conduct may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Specifically, no instructor/supervisor shall threaten or insinuate either explicitly or implicitly that any applicants/enrollees and employee’s submission to or rejection of sexual advances will in any way influence any personnel decision regarding that applicants/enrollees and employee’s training, employment, evaluation, wages, advancement, assigned duties, shifts or any other condition of training/employment or career development. Other sexual harassing conduct in the training/workplace, whether physical or verbal, committed by instructors/supervisors or a non-supervisory personnel is also prohibited. This includes repeated offensive sexual flirtation, advances, propositions, graphic/verbal commentary about an individual’s body, sexual degrading words to describe an individual, offensive comments, jokes, innuendo-dos, and other sexually suggestive objects or pictures. Applicants/enrollees and employees who have complaints or sexual harassment should in appropriate circumstances report such conduct to their instructor/supervisors. If this is not appropriate, they should seek the assistance of their equal opportunity representative. Where investigations confirm the allegations, appropriate corrective action will be taken in accordance with the WIB-KC’s schedule for disciplinary action. There will be no retaliation against applicants/enrollees and employees for report sexual harassment or assisting the WIB-KC in the investigation of a complaint. |
