WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD OF KANAWHA COUNTY

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY STATEMENT

The Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County is committed to the concept of equal opportunity for all citizens who apply for employment or training with, or are employed by the Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County or its subgrantees.

It is the policy, therefore, of the Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, political affiliation or belief and for beneficiaries only, citizenship, be excluded from participation, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity funded in whole or in part by funds made available by the United States Department of Labor.

The Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County will assure compliance as required by the Governor and insure that these assurances and policies are carried out by all parties concerned.  These assurances will be applied to program activities and employment policies and practices of the Workforce Investment Board and its subgrantees.

All subgrantees are to insure that they do not practice or engage in unlawful discrimination.  The administrative staff will monitor all subgrantees for their compliance with equal opportunity.

The Workforce Investment Board of Kanawha County will set the example by providing for equal opportunities in its own administration functions, and will insure that each staff member is aware of the Equal Opportunity Policy.  Any employee failing or refusing to comply with this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action.

The success of this policy depends on our efforts both individually and collectively to carry it out to the fullest extent.  We trust that this cooperation and full participation by all of us will result in the success of this endeavor.
